ways for detecting "thought commands"

Hi guys I am just getting started to read up on BCI implementation etc and myself and tech partner have a few projects in mind. I have read that a lot of people detect eye closing etc to control external devices but we are looking to develop more specific pattern recognition etc. Is there are any links any of you know about or any advice to get me going in my research towards doing this for instance think ON and light turns on etc.

After almost three months and 300 euros lighter, the Spanish customs have finally released the BCI equipment to me so really looking forward to this now, we actually won the AT & T Dallas Foundry hackathon using the kit before my friend sent it here to Spain that was pretty cool I was working remotely from Spain. Just following up on this conversation really, i noticed Emotiv provide up to 15 stored thought commands, are we anywhere near having similar natively yet or is still an open field?
