Discussion on the future of BCI
I am so excited to be part of this forum, as it paves the way for future of computing. I think that 20 years from now, teachers will be giving history lessons on how humans used to use a clunky mouse and keyboard to control computers, before we found out how to send them commands via our brainwaves.
BCI will pair very nicely with the coming wave of AR/VR, since we will already be required to wear a device on our head. I think the most likely scenario we will see go mainstream would be the use of an eye-gaze tracker to use your sight as the computer cursor, while using brainwaves to send commands to the computer. I also think that artificial intelligence will allow for exponential development of BCI applications, such as automatically writing a program to turn your thought into the desired command on the computer.
I'm most excited for the ability to search the Internet hands-free.
I’d like to hear your thoughts on this technology. What are you most excited to see BCI used for? Do you have any ideas for a use of BCI that allows us to do something not possible by other means?
