Static safe?

I was wondering how likely you are to damage one of these devices by giving it a static shock.   Would putting a cover over the chips help?  Is it necessary?  If the top were protected with a cover, is there any risk of frying it via ESD to any of the connectors?  I'm asking because static is really bad here in the winter, and is even happening a bit now and I'd hate to fry something that expensive.

    The input pins all have ESD protection on them.
    The exposed pins on the IC are on the 'other side' of the ESD protection, so they may be susceptible.

    If you are in a high static environment, you may want to put the OpenBCI into a case.

    Thanks, guys.  I'm located in NY, and in the winter, static shocks from me touching my laptop are regularly enough to hard reset a firewire audio interface hooked up to it, so it's definitely a real concern.  Probably best to put it in a case here.
