Why is there no ground electrode on myoware?

I'm used to myoware and but switching to openbci. Myoware abstracts a lot of the details about how electrode channels work because the sensor is so simple. So now that I'm learning about ground, ref, etc to prepare for the more complex setup of openBCI, I'm a little confused about how the myoware worked.

According to this guide Myoware has 3 electrode connectors- reference, mid, and end. In a 10-20 system for eeg you always have a ground and a reference electrode (source). The difference between ground and reference is an important measurement used to calculate the voltages at each electrode.

So if reference goes together wiith ground to get this important measurement, why doesn’t the Myoware need a ground electrode?

    It is a terminology issue. OpenBCI EEG or EMG terms are [electrode, reference, ground] and Myoware terms for its bipolar are [mid, end, reference].
    In addition both types of electronic equipment may also be grounded in some other, electrical respects.
