Idiot looking for recommendations for Cosplay

Greetings,
I have a project I want to see done. I want to make a Technomancer robe where I can use a headset to activate the lights and sounds for the different "spell effects". Here is the biggest issue, I'm horrible at programming due to my dyslexia and how overwhelming all the languages are. I'm looking for recommendations on what I should focus on as narrow as possible to get this project done.
