How many bottles of Electrode Cap Gel do I need?
Hi all,
I am conducting a research using All-in-One EEG Electrode Cap Starter Kit. The number of subjects is around 40, of which each is mounted with 16 electrodes. I read the gel's description (https://shop.openbci.com/collections/frontpage/products/electrodegel?variant=28056992776264), but I could not find an information that I can imply the number of gel bottles needed for my experiments. I will be very glad if somebody could suggest me.
Best,

Attha, hi.
The container size is 16 fluid ounces, same as 2 cups or 1 pint or .47 liters. That is a lot of gel.
Here is a manual from Electro-cap, not the same as the cap sold by OpenBCI, but similar idea. The gel however is identical.

On page 20 they state:
You are only doing 16 channels, not 19. The number of cc's (milliliters) in .47 liter, is 470 cc. 470 / 4 = approximately 117 subjects. The electrode cup size is fairly large on Electro-cap vs the OpenBCI cap. So you'd likely get even more subjects than this.

Perhaps to be conservative, 2 bottles might be wise. They do mention on that same page that people with thick / bushy hair, may require up to 10 cc per subject.
It's probably also likely that you could find this same electrode gel for sale there at a lab supply shop in Thailand. So you may be able to delay your additional purchases until needed.
