i have windows 8.1 and Linux on Ubuntu on my 64bit laptop.
I tried installing the windows gui version64 first which dint even open. Then i tried installing the 32 bit version which opened but dint work for the live streaming of data.
Then i downloaded the Linux version of the GUI for both 64 and 32 bit version.. here the gui file is opening as a text file on gedit when i double click on that.
I have taken OPENBCI kit to use for research as my final year project and the deadlines are nearing.
Please help me with what should i do as its really urgent.
I just got my OpenBCI kit and read the Getting Started tutorial. After downloading the Processing kit, I cannot find the OpenBCI_GUI or the controlP5 & gwoptics folders mentioned. Is the tutorial out of date? Is there one that is up to date?
@bcieeg , hi. I merged your question into this existing thread. Look at some of the previous posts here for setting up the needed libraries. Use the page numbers at lower right to navigate to the first page(s).
I cannot unzip the 64 bit download on Windows 10 every ZIP software tells me the folder is invalid, bit of an anti climax after waiting 3 months due to customs in Spain, any ideas guys?
Solved with links above and additional info. Your documentation needs updating on your tutorials, in addition to above info you also need to copy minim into the libraries folder.
Thanks mate I did, maybe a note should be put on the download page so new users don't have to search, didn't see anywhere mention about the minim folder, on the git hub it doesn't mention that, just a suggestion. I have it installed and been testing but constant timeout it just becomes unresponsive and I stop it and reconnect but need to then powerdown, unplug and replug the dongle then power up again, 10 or 15 minutes later same scenario, possibly a Windows 10 issue ? Or crap electrics in Spain lol. Any suggestions.
You mentioned this same OpenBCI unit was in use at the AT & T Dallas Foundry hackathon. Did they have any issues with it? Post any future comments on the freeze to that thread.
I have been working hard to make OpenBCI_GUI works on my Windows 7 64 bit computer. I followed the steps that are mentioned in Connor's comment but I want to share one important thing: the program do not run if you have downloaded the last Processing upgrade for Win 64, I do not know the reason, but it works only if when I use Processing Win 32, although my computer is 64-bit.
Anyway, now that my OpenBCI GUI is working when I start the SYNTHETIC and start the Data Stream button the only thing I see on the screen are changes in the HEAD PLOT, nothing appears in the EEG data or the FFT plots...WHAT can be happening??
It sounds like 'some' of your graphics are working, but not others. The Processing language is very dependent on the OS drivers and libraries, such as OpenGL. Go to your laptop manufacturer's website, and see if you can download the latest graphics chip drivers for your machine. I would also try switching back the 64 bit Processing version that matches your OS.
