Firmware null
in Cyton
I ordered a Cyton + Daisy and a WiFi module in February. I assembled the stack, powered it up (everything lights up), connected to the WiFis endpoint (OpenBCI-5D82) and ran the OpenBCI_GUI desktop app on my windows 10 machine. I selected LIVE (from Cyton), then selected WiFi (from WiFi Shield), The WiFi shield showed up in the list and I selected it. However when I go to 'WIFI CONFIGURATION' and select 'OPENBCI BOARD' the text box says 'none'. If I try to start the system the app just flashes the text 'Attempting to establish a connection with your OpenBCI Board...' After a few seconds it drops back to the original screen.
I tried removing the daisy module but got the same results.
Then I removed the WiFi module and tried to connect just the cyton board alone via the dongle. The dongle show up as COM5 in the app but when I start the system all the UI elements come up (Time Series, FFT plot, Accelerometer) but there is a message at the bottom which says 'Cyton firmware is null'. The app allows me to start a data stream but no data ever shows up.
I have verified the voltage from the battery pack to the board is 5.964V while the board is powered on (in the last configuration of Cyton only).
What diagnostic steps can I take next?
