Life span of dry electrodes

Hello everyone!

Looking the descriptioin about the dry electrode from FRI, I read the words disposable/reusable, so I'm afraid about the life span
of the electrode, the coating get off as you use the electrode?

Another doubt is about the material, I could not find about the material of this electrode, it's really covered of Ag/AgCl?

Thank you so much for the help.

  • Hello Geraldo,

Please see the care and material details below:

"Please check to make sure that you cannot see the white plastic substrate on the tips of the electrodes before using them. According to the manufacturer, these electrodes have a lifetime of 25-50 uses. After this many uses, the conductive electrode coating may be compromised IF the electrodes were not maintained. Recommended maintenance means gently cleaning with rubbing alcohol or deionized water, then drying completely before storing in a dark, low moisture container. Care is important for ensuring the integrity of the conductive Ag-AgCl coating. "
  • Thanks Shirley!

This lifetime of 25-50 uses is to use the electrode without any gel?
The coating fall out on the hair of the user?
  • These are dry EEG electrodes, so no gel is needed with them. The coating doesn't "fall out" per se, but wears down microscopically over time.
