Daisy Board doesn't work anymore - no idea why

Dear All,

I am using Cyton and Daisy board with gold cup electrodes since months. Yesterday I have noticed that Daisy board doesn't work. I can't get any signal from it (no signal displayed on the OpenBCI GUI and in Matlab with LSL too). I am pretty sure it is not a problem coming from the channels because I have switched the channels from Daisy to Cyton and on the Cyton board they work properly... Have you ever had the same problem? How can I solve it? I really need to continue with my experiments but I don't know where the problem of Daisy come from...

Please, let me know as soon as possible if you have any solutions!

Thank you so much for your time, help and attention.

Best,
Beatrice

    Beatrice, hi.

One suggestion you might have already tried, is to remove and reinsert the Daisy module from/to the Cyton several times. That may 'clean' the contacts somewhat if there was any disconnect between the boards. Although with gold pin contacts, connection in normally excellent.

You should email contact at openbci.com, and see what the lab suggests. Mentioning @openbci.

One precaution that is mentioned in the paper material included with a new OpenBCI product, is to be careful regarding static electricity discharges around the boards when you handle them. Since the board traces and components are not protected by an enclosure, a small static spark could cause a component failure.

    Regards,

    William

  • Dear William,

Thank you for your kind reply and information. Yes, I tried several times to remove and reinsert the Daisy module from the Cyton but it did not work. I contacted the OpenBCI asking whether it is possible to send the board back for a check but I am still waiting for an answer.

Regarding the "static electricity discharges" issue, I do not really know...

Thank you for your time, help and patience.

    Best,
    Beatrice
