GUI 3.3.0 freezes -> fixed with 3.3.1

edited May 2018 in OpenBCI_GUI
Hello,

I am currently following this tutorial.
But I can't use OpenBCI GUI. When I click once on the software it
"freezes", nothing happens and i cannot to anything after that. Do you
know what could be the problem? I may not install the FTDI VCP driver
correctly.

Thanks for your help.

    Mathieu, hi.

What version of the GUI are you running? Some other users are encountering freezes with 3.3.0. What OS?

    Thanks for reply.

I was running the version 3.3.0. I had exactly the same problem than Derek. I just changed the version (Currently I am running the v3.2.0.) and it works now.

    Hi,

I upgraded to the latest version, and was presented with a Java error when I ran the HUB.

So I changed the HUB version to OpenBCIHub-v1.4.2-win-x64-64bit - but and it ran, but the GUI would not open - it stalls when you select Cyton and shows a message that the HUB must be started first.

    Steps taken to replicate:
    1. I renamed the old version folders to XXX.old in case I needed to recover to the last known working version
    2. I created new folders (appropriately named)
    3. I gave them full security permissions
    4. I extracted the files into the folders - reviewed the security permissions
    5. I ran the HUB - I got the Java error
    6. I rebooted the computer
    7. I deleted the HUB files and extracted the newer version into the folder
    8. I ran the programs in the same way as always - the HUB seemed to run but the GUI would not open
    9. I rebooted the computer
    10. I replaced the new files with my older versions
    11. I ran the programs in the same way as always - they worked as expected - I wore the headset recording my EEG while typing this!

    Thanks,
    Don

Don, 3.3.1 should fix this. Some (such as mathieu) have dropped back to 3.2.0, but that should not be necessary.
