what version OpenGL is required for ver 3 GUI?

My old laptop only supports 2.0 (and some 2.1) and I get a blank GUI when I start up.

I figure I need a pc with better hardware that supports the required opengl, but I don't want to spend more than I have to.

This would have to be for a windows machine, assume Win 7.

You need to go to your laptop manufacturer site, and update your graphics chip driver. It's not the version of OpenGL, it's the driver version.

I checked and have the latest drivers for my wimpy obsolete on-board graphics chips and it is only 2.1. The latest is 4.5. This is a very old laptop.

I get a blank GUI window so not sure what else to troubleshoot.

addendum to my last post:

according to an old post about blank GUI windows:

'This page suggests checking your graphics driver(s). They need to be compatible with the latest OpenGL,

But what 'latest OpenGL'? It's not defined here, back in 2015. If I need to get a new laptop, I don't know how much performance it needs to have.
