how to use the test signal?

in OpenBCI_GUI
I'm using V3 with a Cyton-clone hardware.

When I select Test as a channels input I get nothing in the timeline or FFT.  Should I with default settings?
The developer notes show commands to change amplitude and frequency but I can't read java so I could not find anything I could trace to a control for adjusting those values.
(I assume this option is using the ADCs built-in test signal generator)
