Other forum posts also mention using the Python script below, which converts to BDF format. BDF can be converted to CSV with the free EDFBrowser utility.

Something to start with, would be using the EDFBrowser feature to convert the BDF to CSV. Then see in which column the sample index is stored. The GUI / Brainflow CSV is described:

There are other packages for EEG analysis, not tied to hardware manufacturers. Such as EEGLAB, OpenViBE, MNE, NeuroPype, Neuromore, EDFBrowser, various Python libraries like Brainflow, etc. OpenBCI GU

re: importing csv or bdf. I might have mentioned in the past that EDFBrowser can do this. And other signal processing graphing apps can work as well, such as EEGLAB.
  7. convert OpenBCI GUI txt files into EDF files?

This would eliminate the need to use the EDFBrowser converter. I don't understand why it is failing for you. But your screen shown has not adjusted the input fields as appropriate: starting line numbe

I unfortunately run into the same problem and have a though time converting the txt file with the EDFBrowser recommendet.

Realize that BDF or EDF are binary formats and cannot be 'displayed' as text. You can read in BDF or EDF with the EDFBrowser program, free.

GUI writes stream with NO filtering. You said you use EDFBrowser for conversion. It sounds to me like you have two different filter configurations.

You may be operating / using EDFBrowser in such a way that it is misinterpreting the recording file. I suggest looking at the CSV file. It contains microvolt level channel columns.

IF you are seeing the same strange behavior in your tests using OpenBCI GUI DIRECTLY (not with EDFBrowser), then I would highly suspect your signal generator output or connections are not providing th
  16. About labeling the samples

    wjcroft
    by wjcroft · July 2023
If you want to label previously recorded data, you could use any of the various 'editing' programs that can input CSV format. Such as EDFBrowser. I believe EEGLAB can do this also with 'events'.

I can't comment on what is happening in neuromore or EDFBrowser, unclear what is happening there. If all three programs are just reading the CSV file, Inputting the recording should be fast. Display t
  18. Sample Rate for Raw Text (CSV) Output

I originally was looking into this because, when loaded into Neuromore or EDFBrowser with the correct sampling rate, it seemed to me that the data were being displayed much more slowly than in the GUI

Finally, the EDFBrowser has a file header editing mode. That may be able to read / modify the txt file you have, but not sure until you try it:
