Ganglion, V2 GUI freezes on "START SYSTEM"

Setup:
-MacOS 12.12.2 Sierra
-OpenBCI_GUI_200_MACOSX (downloaded 1/31 from http://openbci.com/index.php/downloads)
-Ganglion Board blue light blinking
-USB dongle blue light blinking
-Bluetooth is on
-no other Bluetooth devices are connected.

Steps:
-open OpenBCI GUI
-click data source LIVE (from Ganglion)
-select my ganglion board. 
-hit "START SYSTEM"
-waited 10 minutes, still nothing (documentation said it might take up to one minute)

Synthetic signals work fine.

    Matt, hi.

    Can you report any log type messages you see in the Processing windows?

    Mentioning @Conor and AJ @pushtheworld. Any other troubleshooting steps you can recommend?

    For example (not Ganglion but...) with Cyton we were able to connect to the serial port with a terminal emulator and verify the link was up and debug info printing. Is there some similar debug stream we can see with Ganglion?

    Could his macOS Sierra be an issue? But he is starting it ok, so must be past the app signature stuff.

    Hi wjcroft and pushtheworld,

    I'm sorry I didn't include that, I am a beginner and don't know how to access the Processing windows in the standalone app. Can someone walk me through it?

    Once I get the logs I will make an issue on the github.

    I followed the advice on the GitHub issue to move the .app file outside of the folder and directly into my applications folder. This solved the freezing problem.

    Now it does not freeze, but I am having a new issue. 

    The program is blank. It is not frozen (buttons work and the fps meter on the top is changing), but all I see is the same blank solid background. On the bottom is says "openBCI: openNewLogFile: opened ODF output file: ..."

    When I start the system from a synthetic data stream, a bunch of graphs and visualizers come up. And according to the documentation, I think they are supposed to come up right away for the Ganglion too. What could be going on? Should I make a new post about this issue?

    Update: Learned how to use Processing version and looked through the code. Now I understand that visualizers are purposefully turned off for the Ganglion. I turned them on to see what would happen, and they did not work. I'm guessing that this is because OpenBCI GUI doesn't officially support Ganglion yet? Or is there a way I could get visualizers to work?

    @matt16 we developed this hub on macs so generally the software works really well with them, or so I've seen, because they are so consistent in hardware. Windows, on the other hand has no restrictions on what hardware run on it, so it's best to go to a constant dongle to ensure the great brainwave data! Good luck and please be sure to talk about your adventures with the community!

    Hi @wjcroft and @matt16,

    I have the same issue but I realized I am using an old MacBook pro (2009), which does not come with built-in BLE support. In this case, do I have to use a newer Mac or just PC+BLE dongle?

    I am having the exact same issue here...  frozen screen after start up.  
    MacOS Sierra 10.12.3, and of course, I am NOT using the dongle.
    I don't understand as everything used to work ok 2 weeks ago.

    Here is the "error" message in Processing:

    Sure.  I just installed the latest mac update (10.12.5 now)...  no help.

    it's really the same issue as this one...   but I am not using the dongle.

    I installed the latest version of Processing 3.3.3 and now it's working!  Yeah.

    Whats the old version you were using? Just wondering so if other people hit this thread with the same error

    The old version of Processing was 3.2.4.

    On Windows 10 64 bit, running OpenBCI_GUI.exe as an administrator worked for me.
