Kickstarter pledge

edited August 2016 in Headware
Hello,

I noticed there is possible to choose 8 or 16 channel model in your webstore. I suggest: because the stretch goal of the tDCS was cancelled, instead you can change this stretch goal to 16 channel model for us backers :-) Fair, isn´t it?

Could you please confirm the model we will get as soon as possible. I ordered Mark IV with Ganglion unassembled (450USD).

    Jussi, hi.

Can you clarify your question? If you ordered the Mark IV with Ganglion, the Ganglion is a 4 channel board.

As far as I know, the backers who had ordered the tDCS shield have been refunded. This was announced on the newsletter.

The 8 and 16 channel board kits were from the previous Kickstarter, and are listed in the store; but are considerably more expensive to produce than the Ganglion.

Prices at the time of the Kickstarter are always lower because of the manufacturing scale involved. After Kickstarter has completed, boards must be produced in much smaller runs. Which increases costs.

PS Perhaps you are asking if you can apply your Ganglion payment ($100) towards an 8 or 16 channel kit, by paying the difference shown in the Store pricing? If so you can email to contact at openbci.com and ask if this is possible.
  • I meant Mark IV . There were two different models in webshop, 8 and 16 channels (or electrodes).

Jussi, ok now I'm understanding your question better. Apologies for my confusion about your reference to using 8 or 16 channels with your 4 channel Ganglion.

I'm going to mention @Conor here hopefully for a definitive answer. The Kickstarter link above (Biosensing for Everybody), says that Mark IV backers (such as yourself) get the "full" headset. The page states:

"comes with all of the pieces required to assemble a full Ultracortex Mark IV headset"

The 8 and 16 channel options in the current Store were not mentioned at the time of the Kickstarter campaign. (Since the Kickstarter rewards were geared to Ganglion combinations.)

From a practical point of view however, with the Ganglion board you can only sense 4 channels at once. So it could be that these newer channel selection options refer to how many dry electrode combs are provided, or electrode holders, etc. The headsets do come with some number of cushioning / support electrode holders that do not contain a dry electrode comb, but instead a padding cushion.
  • Yes, I understand your point. However I already have your 16 channel 32bit system and very much like to use it with all 16 electrodes in Mark IV That's why I ask this question. :-)

    @jussijaatien,

Kickstarter backers of the Mark IV will get their headset with 19 electrode nodes. Later pre-order customers will receive less, but have the option to purchase kits of 8.
  • Hi!

That´s great! :-) :-) :-) Does it mean there will be also clips for ears and grounding?

@jussijaatinen I'm not sure if you'll get the ear clips but you can get the earclips from here. Also if the clips aren't included you can just use some of the electrodes included as grounds, but you'll need to tape them to your ears.
