As shown in figure I'm having trouble in finding the USB Dongle's port name. The blue LED appears turned off even if it is switched to GPIO6.

Antonella, hi. When did you purchase this Cyton? From the US OpenBCI shop? Has it ever worked correctly on ANY laptop? Can you try on another laptop to eliminate OS, usb potential problems?
A working Cyton dongle, should cause a 'COM' port number to show up in your Windows Device Manager window. Then when unplugged, the COM port will disappear.
Hi William, I purchased it almost 5-6 months ago on the US OpenBCI shop, and we started to use it just now (it didn't work in any other laptop). So we downloaded all the latest versions of the applications... cyton board seems to work connecting it with batteries, but the dongle is not recognised by the pc. I've tried even with Mac, and no COM port number showed up

Hmm. Normally when one purchases a product, it is wise to verify that it functions correctly within the 'warranty' period, so that the manufacturer can remedy any issues in a timely fashion. I see from your email address that you are in a large hospital / clinic:
So I guess it is understandable that your organization might be slower moving than other situations. I would recommend emailing to support at openbci.com and explaining your situation of the dead dongle. Hopefully they can send a replacement.

By, "seems to work", I think you are saying the LED lights up. But this is only checking that power is applied to the board, not verifying any other functions. Hopefully this is just your dongle that is malfunctioning.

"is not recognized by the pc", can you confirm that you are using the Windows Device Manager, and know how to use it? Do you see other COM ports, but no change in COM ports when dongle is plugged / unplugged? On Mac, the ports there are not 'COM' ports, but show up as entries in the /dev/ folder.

Yes, I've followed the instructions above (https://ftdichip.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/AN_396-FTDI-Drivers-Installation-Guide-for-Windows-10.pdf), and yes, no changes were observed in COM ports when dongle is plugged/unplugged. I'm sorry for the delay, but we received it actually some weeks ago.
Go ahead and email support at openbci.com and ask how to proceed, you can reference this thread link.
