USB Dongle no longer responds

jmaazjmaaz Marseille, France

Hello all,
2 years ago I got the OpenBCI Cyton board for research purposes. I've conducted a total of 3 EEG experiments with the board (in total 96 participations of about 1 hour), without any particular problems.
Yet, when I tried to use the board for a 4th experiment, the USB dongle (which is supposed to collect data from the board to a computer) stopped working (no blue light or flickering red light when I plug it, the dongle is not detected by the computer). I've tried plugging it into different USB ports, on different computers, but the problem persists.
Do you have any insight into what might be causing this problem? Any advices on how to fix it (if possible)?
Any input will be valuable at this point.
Thanks in advance for your time,
cheers,
Jacob

    Jacob, hi.

If the dongle has failed, you can purchase another from the Shop:

    https://shop.openbci.com/products/dongle

You can also try emailing to customer support, (contact at openbci.com) to see if they can suggest other tests. But because it is failing on multiple computers, multiple ports, it pretty clearly has failed. I assume you have verified that the dongle is not showing up in the OS list of devices. On Windows this is done in the Device Manager control panel. On Mac you can compare before / after insertion listing of the /dev/tty* directory.

    Regards, William
