Zengar NeurOptimal Neurofeedback ?

Hello good morning!

I am a guy from Spain, new to EEG systems and I am thinking about buying the neuroptimal® neurofeedback system. I have heard that it is a very reliable system and better than linear EEG systems.

On the other hand, I have read that not everyone finds it effective.
Is it possible for it to work and then not? Let me explain: A subject receives a number of sessions like 25. And after two years, he returns to the sessions and they have no effect. It's possible?
Would you recommend that system over the linear one?
Can anyone who has used it give me feedback?

I am a nervous, impulsive, absent-minded person, I think about things, maybe ADD. That's why I think it's the right system for me.

Thank you so much.

    Hi SP87,

This topic is not really appropriate for this Forum. This discussion group is geared towards hardware and software from OpenBCI. Which has no relation to Zengar NeurOptimal.

There are some NeurOptimal threads on the NeuroBB forum, suggest trying there. If you look around that site, you will see that quite a few purchasers of that equipment, later sell it. Not sure why that is, but could be because benefits / cost plateau after some time and they want to transition to some other form of neurofeedback. Not only are there upfront costs for the equipment and software, you must also pay monthly or yearly subscription fees.

It's true, it may not be the most appropriate thread, but you know how the system works and I need help.

If it's really a good system, what do you mean they stall? What does it stop taking effect? What is it expensive to keep it? What system do you recommend for personal use that does not have side effects?

    Thanks a lot

    Regards.

PLEASE go to other forums to discuss this. NO ONE "knows how the system works" because NeurOptimal is a secret and proprietary neurofeedback system. No published descriptions of it exist, other than extremely general information. Do you understand that??

You can go to NeuroBB as I described, or even better, get a membership in their PASS program, where you can ask all the questions you like.

    https://neuroptimal.com/memberships/
    https://neuroptimal.com/new-user-resources/
    https://neuroptimal.com/discover-neuroptimal-usa/

I believe PASS membership is also required to keep the system software up to date and compatible. As you can see, the cost is considerable and ongoing.

If it's really a good system, what do you mean they stall? What does it stop taking effect? What is it expensive to keep it?

Have you even had a session of it at a local practitioner? That is where I would start. NeurOptimal uses the same scalp locations on every session, and the 'protocol' used for biofeedback / neurofeedback is basically the same each time. So this means it cannot adapt to other widely known neurofeedback protocols or work on other portions of the brain than the standard location.

What system do you recommend for personal use that does not have side effects?

"Side effects" is the wrong term. NeurOptimal likely helps many until the plateau is reached. There are a whole range of consumer grade systems out there. Investigate Dr. Cody Rall's website and Youtube channel. Many reviews. Another great home system is Brain-Trainer.

See this latest update from Cody on the Mendi. It specifically addresses impulsiveness, focus and ADHD. Mendi increases prefrontal blood perfusion, thus enhancing frontal executive control. Cody highlights several recent papers on Mendi efficacy.
