railing, hardware settings questions

I was using the 8 channel cyton board head gear and hardware settings which are default are not working for some channel. When the Input type is normal - 2 or 3 of the channels often are railed and work for the input type "shorted". Similarly, for bias NOT included, the input type "normal" is working. What are the exact differences in these settings as the OpenBCI Widget info page is down and what difference do these settings made?

The Widgets page seems to be working fine here:

Normally you want to leave all the Hardware Settings in their default state as shown on the widgets page. If you are having issues with Ultracortex railing certain channels, please see this page for hints on how to resolve:
