Ganglion headband electrode question

Hi,
I just got a ganglion board and a headset with a set of electrodes.
I noticed there is some flat electrodes (see second picture) and some electrodes that are not flat (first picture) and some what I call regular electrodes (see last picture).
As I had some little experience with EMG using electrodes like the ones in the last pictures with some gel for conductivity, I was surprised getting those two types of electrodes which seems they don't need any gels.
As I am experiencing and have no assistance around me, I'm questioning if those electrodes need gel or not ?
Thank you very much for your assistance.

Hi Emmanuel,
It sounds like you purchased the starter kit?
https://shop.openbci.com/products/bundle2
This contains electrodes for all biosensing applications: EEG, EMG, ECG. The headset/band is described here, did you see the tutorial link:
https://shop.openbci.com/products/openbci-eeg-headband-kit
https://docs.openbci.com/AddOns/Headwear/HeadBand/
There are other tutorials for ECG EMG, see menu panel at left:
https://docs.openbci.com/GettingStarted/Biosensing-Setups/EMGSetup/
The disk gel electrodes are for EMG or ECG.

Thank you William. I solved my problems in the mean time and now I'm having some questions regarding the mindaffect python code
Hi Emmanuel,
There are several past Forum threads on Mindaffect,
https://www.google.com/search?as_q=mindaffect&as_sitesearch=openbci.com
You can email Mindaffect staff at their website: [email protected]

Note that "passive dry" electrodes, such as you have with your kit, have been found to NOT operate as well as one might naturally assume with Mindaffect. They recommend their water based electrodes, as shown in the docs above. But they do support Ganglion. They are also apparently now promoting the Thinkpulse active dry system along with Mindaffect BCI.

yes I noticed the dry electrodes were operating poorly and did use some wet chunk of sponge to overcome this issue.
Thank you for your reply !!!
