GUI shows signals from channels that are switched off?
I am trying to set up the EEG and followed [this] (https://docs.openbci.com/docs/01GettingStarted/02-Biosensing-Setups/EEGSetup "this") tutorial. However, when I start the data stream I am getting a lot of strange signals from EEG channels that are not connected to an electrode and are turned off on the GUI. I attached four screenshots showing what the GUI is displaying. Wondering what I might be doing wrong? Thanks for any help!!!!

You'll see in the screenshots that I switched one of the electrodes from the 2nd channel to the 3rd in hopes that might change something. No luck.
Hi BrainStuff,
When did you purchase this Cyton system? Are you using the latest v5 GUI? Has this Cyton ever worked correctly in the past?
Regards, William
Hello,
I purchased this Cyton system in 2016 (getting to be a while ago!). The system has worked well in the past. The version I am using it Version 1 (1). I updated firmware just two weeks ago. Thanks so much for the help!!
It's possible your firmware upgrade was glitched or failed. Did you follow all these steps?
https://docs.openbci.com/docs/02Cyton/CytonProgram
https://docs.openbci.com/docs/02Cyton/CytonRadios
https://github.com/OpenBCI/OpenBCI_Cyton_Library/blob/master/UPGRADE_GUIDE.md
I don't understand your statement:
Neither the firmware nor GUI is at v1. GUI is at v5, firmware 2.x and 3.x.
I saw the same discussion. 16 channel shows data either its on or off. My question is could it be a mistake in installation (my mistake). The other channels do not have the same problem. Any suggestions? We just have purchased it and its the first I see does not work.
Elizabeth, I merged your new thread (on the same subject) into this existing one.
Are you sure you are using the latest OpenBCI_GUI v5? Mentioning Richard @retiutut.
William
Please try turning off channels while the data is NOT streaming.
