Kickstarter Update: Happy New Year & Research Reward Tier

Hello World,

Happy New Year’s Eve! If you haven’t settled on your new year’s resolutions yet, a great one would be to help make open-source BCI research and development a reality! 😛

Our new year’s resolution is to bust our buns to make the best open-source BCI hardware platform possible and connect everyone out there who wants to do amazing things with it! We are truly honored to have crossed the 80% mark of our Kickstarter goal before the end of 2013, and we hope to continue our momentum into 2014. Thank you for the amazing support.

Based on the great feedback we’ve been getting, we have decided to add an Official OpenBCI Research Partner reward tier to our Kickstarter campaign. If you support us at this reward level, you will be invited to an exclusive OpenBCI Research Partner conference hosted in NYC in the late Spring to help us shape the future of the OpenBCI movement. In addition, you will receive 5 OpenBCI boards or daisy-chain modules, an electrode cap identical to the one seen in our video, and an Electrode Starter Kit; these rewards will be shipped at our early bird delivery date! Your group will also get beta access to our online portal for collaborative research and data sharing. The portal will be in development over the course of the Spring. This reward is ideal for academic departments, research groups, or hacker spaces that want to get early access to a larger quantity and variety of the OpenBCI hardware. We will work with you directly to get access to the technology that you need so you can begin doing cutting edge research with the OpenBCI right away! If you have questions about this reward tier, please feel free to message us directly.

We’d also like to mention that the ChipKIT firmware code has been added to the OpenBCI Github repository, and will be growing over the days to come. Also, a more polished video recap of the Volumetric Society event has been posted online by our friends at the Internet Society (NYC Chapter). See below:

Have a fantastic New Year. See you in 2014!

Sincerely,

The OpenBCI Team
