Hello Backers,
We have lots of updates for you!
Updated Delivery Schedule
We’ve been making plenty of great progress but we still have a lot of work to do. Due to some essential design revisions and unexpected supply-chain delays, we regrettably need to push back the delivery dates of the OpenBCI Kickstarter rewards. Our new conservative reward delivery dates are as follows:
Patches & T-Shirts: End of May
Research Partners & Early Birds: End of June
Other OpenBCI Rewards: Mid July
We apologize for any inconveniences that this may cause. We’re working our hardest to get the OpenBCI Boards out the door, but our priority is on the quality of the technology that we deliver to you.
Technology Update
We recently made the decision to shift our PCB design to an octagon shape as opposed to a hexagon. This was mainly for making it easier to mechanically interface the PCB with new headset iterations. We are now in the process of testing the newest OpenBCI Board prototypes. Check out the new PCB!
We’re very excited to announce that we just published V1 and V2 of the Spiderclaw headset on our website. There, you’ll find everything you need to get started printing and assembling our current 3D-printable headset prototypes that are intended to work with the OpenBCI Board. In addition, the guide includes instructions on how to begin modeling a new headset or modifying the existing headset design. The designs introduced are a starting spot, but far from perfect. We hope that you, our fellow brain-hackers and makers, will jump in and help improve the 3D-printable EEG headset for the OpenBCI Board. There’s still have a long way to go!
Additionally, we are currently testing the newest samples of the Electrode Starter Kit. See the image below:
Other Rewards
We just requested a new sample design of the OpenBCI t-shirt. The color and position of the graphic were slightly off on our first samples. The first sample can be seen below.
We just placed the full order for the OpenBCI iron-on patches which you can see below. We think they turned out great! They’re 3 inches in diameter.

That’s all for now. We’ll be in touch soon.
Best,
The OpenBCI Team
