OpenBCI Discovery Program: SentryBOT BCI-CBI

Hi everyone, I am Emir and I am developing the SentryBOT BCI-CBI project, where a two-legged modular robot named SentryBOT is controlled using a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) device. The project involves integrating the OpenBCI Cyton biosensing board to enable thought-controlled movements, sound, and light interactions with the robot.

Another feature I am working on is, as I call it, my CBI (Computer-Brain Interface) robot. When the CBI robot gives an output, there will be a vibration motor connected to the circuit in the helmet and our chin, in a logic similar to BCI, and it will transmit the output with a special alphabet (like Morse). If I learn enough information, I can do a real CBI with bone sound transfer in the future.

How SentryBOT interacts with BCI and CBI

As an additional output to showcase how I will continue with Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) projects in the future, I plan to create a smart home system that controls all functions of my home using brainwaves. In this system, I will use SentryBOT as the central control unit for heating, lighting, security, entertainment, and other systems, connecting them with the OpenBCI Cyton biosensing board for control. I will develop this system using Raspberry Pi/Jetson Nano, Arduino, Python/C++, and the OpenBCI Cyton biosensing board. I will install and test this system in my home.

The OpenBCI Cyton biosensing board serves as a crucial component for connecting my brain with SentryBOT. It allows me to control the robot’s various functions through brain waves, showcasing the versatility of OpenBCI technology in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence.

This project demonstrates the potential of OpenBCI technology in enabling innovative and accessible applications in robotics. By controlling a modular robot with brain waves, it not only showcases the capabilities of OpenBCI, but also explores new avenues for human-robot interaction, contributing to the advancement of neuroscience and robotics.
